Soul Care

The Soul Care Ministry seeks to come alongside those struggling through life’s storms and provide them with counseling from a Biblical perspective to help them, through wise discernment (Prov 18:13), apply the truths of God’s Word to their situation (2 Tim 3:16-17). There are many hurting people in this world, and undoubtedly many in our church. They need more than to simply be listened to or given a “quick fix” Bible verse. They need real answers, comfort, and hope from the one who created them and loved them enough to die for them. We affirm that the church should be where these people turn and receive help (Matt 11:28). The church, as Christ’s body here on Earth, is the only true source of hope for hurting people as Christ himself said: “But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

  • We believe that the best authority for our lives is the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Our goal in Biblical Counseling is to show you the hope available to you through Jesus Christ. We also desire to help you work through your problems/ difficulties the best way we know how - according to Christ’s plan for you. The counsel you receive will come directly from the lessons found in scripture. At times your counselor may share with you wisdom they have learned (Proverbs 12:18) as led by the Holy Spirit. If you are ever unsure if what your counselor is sharing with you falls in the category of wisdom or biblical command, please ask. We never want to misrepresent our words as God’s.

  • Each person is individually responsible to Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10) and coercion is never successful at creating a Christ honoring life (1 Peter 3:15). You will never be forced to do anything. We do believe that Christ-honoring change is a partnership between us and the Holy Spirit that requires significant effort from us (Galatians 5:25). To this end you may receive assignments from your counselor that focus on bringing scripture to bear on your daily life. Meaningful change is unlikely to occur in 1 hour a week increments and requires commitment and work outside the counseling room.

  • We desire to come alongside you during this tumultuous time in our life (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Like any relationship, the relationship between you and your counseling requires commitment from both parties (Romans 12:10). You and your counselor will meet regularly, often weekly, at an agreed upon time and place typically for about 1 hour. We ask that if you are ever not able to make a counseling session that you let your counselor know no less than 24 hours prior and your counselor will make the same commitment to you. Every situation is different, but generally counseling requires commitment to regular meetings for several months.

  • We believe that providing counseling to a hurting world is part of our divine call to mission with Christ (2 Corinthians 1:3). All counseling is provided free of charge with no expectation of payment or reimbursement. Christ has blessed us freely and we desire to see him do the same with you (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you would like to contribute to the ministries of Redeemer Church contact the church office. Any contributions to Redeemer Church or lack thereof will never affect the counsel you receive.
